The undisputed queen of canned fish art: Ana Lisa Luças

Sometimes you just know - Bart felt this way when he met Portuguese artist Ana Lisa Luças in Porto last year. One look at her work and he was sold. Her colorful, bold, and modern pen drawings had exactly the energy he envisioned for Fish Tales. They stayed in touch – and the rest is history. We proudly present our Conserveria line with new branding. And not just any branding - artwork designed by none other than the undisputed queen of canned fish art: Ana Lisa Luças. Cans that you would be glad to display on your table!
"Let me take you to the Bolhāo market in Porto. Here you can wander for hours, eat, drink, and people-watch. In the middle of the market is the largest store with canned fish from all local brands. When I asked the owner about the designs of the cans, he said: ‘Did you know that more than half of all cans are designed by one artist?’ I immediately asked him for her name and even got her phone number. That same evening, around midnight, I was sitting with Ana Lisa on a terrace. With a glass of wine, I sketched out my idea for her. I wanted a new line of the highest quality canned fish, designed by her. 'Bright', 'happy', and 'delicious' – these were the three words I gave to her on a crumpled-up piece of paper. The next morning, she sent me her first designs. I was speechless and incredibly happy; it was exactly what I had envisioned. Ana Lisa took her pen – she only uses the computer in the very last phase – and from that moment on, designed dozens of cans for our new Tins & Fins line."

The art of packaging
In Southern Europe, it's quite normal to package canned fish in the most beautiful wrappers, often like small works of art. In the Netherlands, we're not used to it – but why not? Fish Tales believes that cans deserve more than just a label. That's why we joined forces with Ana Lisa.
Her style is unmistakable: hand drawn illustrations, bursting with color, character, and joy. No computer tricks, no rushed work – just lines and shapes created with love and attention. Like our fishermen, working day in and day out with love, patience, and respect for the ocean, Ana Lisa works on each design.

A feast for the eye, on the table
Our cans are not meant to be hidden in the kitchen cupboard. You'll want to display them proudly on your table. The light-hearted designs create atmosphere, making a treat out of treating yourself (to a snack). Each piece is inspired by the sea, tradition, and the art of good food.
Conserveria with New Branding
With this collaboration, we give our Conserveria line a new face. Canned fish and art, hand in hand. Because we believe that enjoying the most delicious fish is also about the experience, and that includes cans you'll want to show off.
